July 30, 2026 — This photograph is my tribute to Ansel Adams’s iconic 1942 photograph, The Tetons and the Snake River. I photographed the scene from Snake River Overlook in Grand Teton National Park, the same general vantage point from which Adams created his celebrated image more than eight decades ago. The landscape has changed considerably since Adams stood here—most noticeably as trees have grown and increasingly obscure portions of the Snake River—but the great sweep of the valley toward the Teton Range remains unmistakable.
My photograph was created using modern ultra-high-resolution techniques that Adams could scarcely have imagined. The finished panorama was assembled from 1,205 focus-bracketed photographs, combining focus stacking with panoramic stitching to produce a 1.51-gigapixel image with extraordinary detail throughout the landscape. At its native 300 PPI resolution, the photograph measures approximately 93 × 211 inches—more than 7½ feet high and 17½ feet wide—allowing this classic Grand Teton landscape to be reproduced at architectural scale without artificial enlargement
