Oct. 6, 2021, 5:30 PM — This off-the-radar location might be one of the most gorgeous places in all of Maine. Located on the Schoodic Peninsula in the far less visited part of Acadia National Park, Raven’s Nest is one of the park’s best-kept secrets. Park rangers will not reveal the exact location, apparently in an attempt to keep traffic down in the area. There are only about four parking places at the pull-off for the location.
While the entirety of the Schoodic Area is gorgeous, we loved this harder-to-find location near Schoodic Point. This photograph proved to be one of the most difficult wall murals I have ever attempted to process and stitch. Stitching the land was the easy part. The difficult part was the ocean because there were many images containing nothing but water, giving the stitching software few reference points to work with. Finally, I noticed that hundreds of lobster and crab pot buoys were scattered across the ocean surface. I was able to use those buoys as reference points to complete the stitching.

Make sure to check out my “Blue Hour at Raven’s Nest” photo in my night photography gallery.

This panorama was photographed with a Canon R5 and Canon 200mm lens at 200mm, f/11, 1/160 sec., ISO 200. The original panorama consisted of 760 individual focus-bracketed photographs. These were processed into 96 focus-stacked images and then stitched together to create the final image.

The original image is:

Print Sizes and Mounting Options

Contact us for a quote on your specific size and mounting needs.

  • Standard Plaque prints are available in four finish choices. Finishes are acid-free and ultraviolet (UV) light protected, shielding them against fading and deterioration, and can be wiped down with water or ammonia-free cleaners.
  • We highly recommend Metalized Paper for prints, plaques and PlexiPlaq products. This special paper does an excellent job of bringing out the detail in the photographs.
  • All of our plaques are produced by Duraplaq on photo-quality high-density boards. Numerous mounting styles and edge treatments are available.
  • Approximate lead time for shipping prints is two to three weeks. Plaque mounts and other options are approximately three to four weeks.

The above sizes and mounting options are a small subset of the overall mounting options we offer. Our photographs are available as traditional prints, framed prints, plaque mounts, aluminum prints and PlexiPlaq. We also offer Tri-Panel, Quad-Panel, Wall Clusters & Splits, and many of our gigapixel photographs are available as wall murals. Commercial licensing is also available for a variety of applications.
