Oct. 8, 2025 – The Truckee River is in the Sierra Nevada mountains, starting at the outflow of Lake Tahoe in California (near Tahoe City), flowing through Truckee, CA, then across Nevada’s high desert, passing Reno and Sparks, and ending at Pyramid Lake in Nevada. It’s a major water source for the region and popular for recreation like fishing, rafting, and kayaking, running through beautiful landscapes in both states.
This river is one of the most heavily fished waters in the state, supporting between 60,000 and 100,000 angler days per year. Anglers can fish for rainbow trout, brown trout, cutthroat trout, mountain whitefish, and largemouth bass (in lower sections).
This panorama is derived from 2111 focus bracketed images yielding 168 focus stacked images in a 7 row x 20 column array. It shot with Canon R5 at f/11, 1/60 second exposure time and ISO 100 using a 200mm focal length on Canon 100-400mm lens.
