Oct. 7, 2025 – We were visiting our friends John and Val at their beach house on the west shore of Lake Tahoe for the week. The first day of our stay they took us to see the sites along the shores of Lake Tahoe. This was one of the locations they took us to. A short hike from the road, I could see that this location had lots of potential for a sunrise photo. Using my PhotoPills app on my phone I could see that the sun would rise directly behind the two trees allowing for a shot with the sun shining through them. Later in the day while our spouses were shopping in Tahoe City, John and I walked into a photo gallery and the photographer had a sunrise shot taken from the same exact spot with the morning sunlight illuminating the little waterfall. Inspired by his shot,  I told John that I really needed to go back to this location for a sunrise photo. Three days later we got up early and went to this spot for the shot. With virtually no wind, I was able to capture this scene using focus stacking in a 12 ft. by 21 ft. mural.

This panorama consists of 192 individual 45 mega-pixel focus stacked images derived from 3567 focus bracketed images. It was shot with Canon R5 at f/11, 1/250th second exposure time and ISO 400 using a 200mm focal length on Canon 100-400mm lens.
