June 23, 2021, 5:19am. It had long been a goal for me to photograph a gigapixel wall mural image of the presidents. It had been our list for 2020 but Covid put a damper on that plan. This year we made it. I got up around 4am to drive to Mt. Rushmore from our campground. I was the first in the gate when they opened at 5am. Mt. Rushmore is one of our country’s most iconic treasures memorializing the founding of our country. Symbolizing the ideals of freedom and democracy, it is a tribute to four presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln and their invaluable contributions to the United States. It took Sculptor John Gutzon de la Mothe Borglum and a team of nearly 400 men working for 14 years to carve the monument, starting October 4, 1927 and completing it on October 31, 1941. During the 14 years of construction not one fatality occurred. Unfortunately, however, many of the workers inhaled silica dust while working on Mount Rushmore, which led them to later die from the lung disease silicosis. Borglum died just seven months before Mount Rushmore was finished. His son, Lincoln Borglum, finished the project for his father.

- We highly recommend the Metalized Paper for prints, plaques and PlexiPlaq products. This special paper does an excellent job of bringing out the detail of the photos.
- All of our plaques are produced by Duraplaq on photo quality High Density boards. Numerous Mounting Styles are available along with many Edge Treatments.
- Approximate lead time for shipping of Prints is 1 week. Plaque mounts and other options 2 weeks.
