June 27, 2021, 5:15am. — I was up early to allow me time to drive to the location I had spotted the day before. I arrived about 4:45am just as the first light was showing on the horizon so I quickly hiked to this location and sat up my rig. As the first light began to illuminate the clouds I could see that it was going to be a glorious sunrise. With all the trees in the foreground I needed to do a focus stacked panorama so I setup my camera to do focus bracketing. I waited until the Alpen Glow was illuminating the tower and started shooting. As I was shooting, the pinks and reds of the early light exploded. The smoother areas of the tower reflect the light. The grass in the lower right has began to ripen providing some golden tones while the red earth compliments the green of the pine trees. This image was published in the May 2023 issue of Landscape Photography Magazine.
