July 29, 2017. While fishing along the southern side of Port Valdez, I had noticed this tide pool between Dayville Road and the mountain rising up from the bay. A little waterfall carried water laden with glacial milk that had colored this little tide pool to a light blue color. Isolated from the bay by the road the pool was ripple free providing nearly perfect reflections of the rocks bleached white with the glacier milk. The lush forest on the mountain side made for such a tranquil scene, I knew I had to try to capture this scene. At first opportunity I made a special trip to the spot to shoot a panorama. The late afternoon light was lighting up the greenery. A mother Brown Bear with 2 baby cubs had been spotted in the area that kept me nervously keeping an eye over my shoulder as I shot this photo.
This panorama consists of 60 individual 42 mega-pixel images shot with Sony a7Rii at f-22, .8 second exposure time and ISO 100 using a Canon 70-200 zoom lens at 200mm.
