Chapter Three

The Cosmic Geographic Worldview into the Realm of Darkness

The battle we fight is not political, economic, or racism. It is nothing short of satanic warfare! — Jonathan Cahn

The realm behind the cosmic curtain and what goes on there is largely purely speculation from our human view of the cosmos. What would we find if somehow we could pull back the cosmic curtain and look behind it? In this chapter we are going to explore what we can find in the Bible about what is going on behind this cosmic curtain.

In 2 Kings 6 we are given another glimpse of what we might find if we could look behind the cosmic curtain. Let’s start with a little back story. We are told that the king of Syria was making war against Israel. The Syrians had set up an ambush at a certain location. God sends Elisha to warn the king of Israel about the ambush. The king of Israel sends a scout to check it out and the scout comes back to confirm to the king that indeed, the Syrian army was encamped at the location. The king of Israel’s army is able to avoid the ambush and as a result the king of Syria is convinced that he has a spy within his army. He consults his servants asking them to identify the spy. Their response is that there is no spy but rather, “Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel tells the king of Israel the words you speak in your bedroom”. The king of Syria orders his spies to find out where Elisha is so that they can go and capture Elisha. They determine Elisha is in Dothan, so the king of Syria sends an army to surround Dothan to capture Elisha. Let’s open the scripture at this point in 2 Kings.

14 Therefore he sent horses and chariots and a great army there, and they came by night and surrounded the city. 15 And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” 16 So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:14-17

When Elisha’s servant awoke in the morning he looked out from the walls of city to see an army surrounding the city and went to Elisha in a panic. As a prophet, Elisha apparently can see behind the cosmic curtain and knows God’s army is there to defend them. He prays and asks the Lord to open the servant’s eyes and when He does, the servant sees God’s army too. One can imagine that at that sight the servant was greatly encouraged.

The above account with Elisha is the only example I am aware of in the Bible that someone is allowed to see behind the cosmic curtain. Other than the appearance of the angel which we discussed previous chapter where in Daniel the angel discloses to Daniel that he was detained by the Prince of Persia, the Old Testament is virtually silent regarding the happenings going on behind the cosmic curtain.

When we get into the New Testament, Jesus reveals some of what goes on behind the cosmic curtain. Jesus’ parable about Lazarus and the rich man opens the curtain slightly.

22 So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’Luke 16:22-26

Besides getting a description of Hades and the suffering there, Jesus describes the abode of the righteous dead. We can deduce that those in Hades are able to see what is happening in the abode of the righteous dead. Apparently, as further punishment being able to see what could have been if they had followed God’s way.

The end of the parable may provide us with some additional insight as to why God chooses to not allow us to see behind the cosmic curtain. The rich man pleads with Father Abraham to send Lazarus to his brothers to warn them.

27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ 29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ ” Luke 16:27-31

We get a picture here that the ungodly are incapable of seeing truth even if the messenger has risen from the dead. Much like the Jewish leaders didn’t believe even after Jesus rose from the grave.

During his ministry, Jesus was obviously very aware of all the happenings behind the cosmic curtain. The fact that He cast out numerous demons witnesses to the fact that He could discern the demons presence. Likewise, He taught His disciples the ability to discern and cast out demons.

The culture at the time of Jesus seemed to be much more aware or accepting of the fact that demonic beings exist. In our modern secular culture, anyone that expresses belief in Satan and demons is looked down on as a relic from the past. Especially within the post modern “Western” churches, the idea of demonic possession is dismissed as something that happened during the time Jesus walked the earth and is largely ignored today. I have personally spoken with numerous missionaries that have worked in third world countries such as India, Cambodia, Africa etc. that encounter demonic forces and demon possessed individuals of a regular basis. These missionaries will testify that demon possession and demonic activity is very real in today’s world .

The apostle Paul was certainly no stranger to the demonic forces of darkness. Ephesians 6:12 which we have quoted several times already certainly reveals Paul’s awareness of these evil forces. Throughout his writings, Paul warns believers to be wary of Satan and his followers. In Ephesians 2:3 Paul calls Satan out as, “the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,”.  Paul declares Satan to still be prince of the power of the air. This among many other scriptures (even though Jesus declared on the cross, “It is finished”) Paul reveals that Satan and his minions are still at work. That fact seems to be relevant until the Jesus’ final conquest described in Revelation.

As Christians we must not be complacent of the fact that Satan is still active. At the same time, it is important to not be looking for Satan or his minions under every bush. Within the various denominations of the church, we see practices on both ends of the spectrum. Some totally ignore the existence of Satan while some Pentecostal and Charismatic denominations put an unhealthy interest and over emphasis on satanic activity.
 
Thankfully, the Holy Spirit that dwells within the heart of the believer giving us greater ability to discern when Satan and his powers of darkness are attacking us. 1 Corinthians 12 describes the gift of discerning of sprints.

10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 1 Corinthians 12:10

As the believer grows in his relationship with Christ and matures, he or she should have developed an ability to determine good vs. evil. This is highlight in Hebrews.

13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Hebrews 5:13-1

Elisha being a prophet of God had a special gifting of the Holy Spirit and had obviously developed an ability to discern and actually see God’s army surrounding the Syrian army. It was only after Elisha prayed that his servant’s eyes be open that the servant was able to also see. Unfortunately, most of us are unable to see as Elisha did.

As believers, we live by faith on the promises in the scriptures that God watches over His children whom follow Him and obey His commandments. In chapter 1 we discussed how Satan accused God of placing a hedge of protection around Job. It was only when God removed the hedge that Satan was able to attack Job. In Job’s case, it appears that God was testing Job. The testing of Job was not for God’s benefit but rather for Job. When God tests us it is to help us prove to ourselves if we are faithful or not.

There seems to be two main reasons for God’s placing or removal of a hedge of protection around each of us. One is to test or prove us as in the case of Job. The other is unbelief, disobedience and rejection of His Love and Grace. Romans 1:18-23 reveals that those whom choose to ignore all the natural signs of His existence reap His wrath.

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Romans 1:18-23

Thus, because of their failure to recognize Him we are told that He “gave them up”. That is He turned His back on them and removed the entire hedge of protection from them. Therefore, in Romans 1:24-32 we see the consequences of the unpardonable sin which is the sin of unbelief.

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. Romans 1:24–32

The key point from Romans 1:24 is that God turns his back, “gives them up” and allows the unbeliever to sink into a mire of debauchery. Worshiping the idol of “self” the unbeliever is left to indulge in every form of sin that man and Satan can dream up. On the other hand Romans 2 points out that many of us as believers also were equally guilty of indulging in like sin and it is only through the Grace of God and Christ’s sacrifice on the cross that we can have hope of fellowship with the Lord. We are not unlike the nation of Israel.

In the Old Testament, after God takes the nation of Israel out of Egypt in Exodus we see example after example of how the people turned their back on God and worshiped false gods. The first was the golden calf while Moses was on the mountain receiving the Ten Commandments. The Israelites struggled with Baal and Asherah worship from the death of Joshua onward. Eventually, the worship of Baal and Asherah would lead to Israel being removed from the Promised Land. God turned His back on Israel and allowed Assyria and Babylon to conquer them and carry them off to Babylon into exile for 70 years.

In Old Testament times, the nation of Israel was God’s chosen remnant within the whole of mankind through whom His promise of a Messiah would be fulfilled. The nation of Israel was a very small percentage for the world’s population.  Likewise in today’s world the percentage of people that are dedicated true followers are a very small percentage. According to the Pew Research Center:

  • The vast majority 68.8%, (5.07 billion) of the human population in today’s world are non-Christian.
    • Muslims 23.2% (1.6 billion)
    • Unaffiliated Atheist 16.4% (1.1 billion)
    • Hindus 15% (1.03 billion)
    • Buddhists 7.1% (488 million)
    • Folk Religions 5.9% (405 million)
    • Other Religions 0.8% (58 million)
    • Jews 0.2% (13.8 million)
  • Among the 31.2% (2.3 billion) that identify as Christian:
    •  More than a billion (43%) are Roman Catholic
    • 260 million (12%) are Orthodox Christians
    • 285 million (13.1%) are Evangelicals
    • 279 million (12.8%) are Pentecostals
    • 304 million (14%) are Charismatics.
    • 28 million (1%) fit within the broad umbrella of Christianity.

An unfortunate fact is that within the 31.2% of the world’s population that identify as Christian, a very small percentage, somewhere between 6% and 8% at the most, adhere to a traditional Biblical Christian World View.

I acknowledge that this statement may offend some of my readers. It is a sad fact that many of the modern day churches in the U.S. and around the world have abandon the Biblical values taught by the Bible. This is backed up by a report released by Arizona Christian University’s Cultural Research Center on March 24, 2020.

AWVI 2020:Worldview In America (Report #1:03-24-2020) (Click to download a PDF of the report.)  Dr. George Barna, Director of Research of the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University headed up the research. Barna called it the “most sophisticated nationwide survey of worldview conducted in the United States. In the opening paragraph of the report Dr. Berna states:

“A new national survey about the worldview of Americans shows that although seven out of ten consider themselves to be Christian, just 6% have a biblical worldview.”

Dr. Barna notes that denominational ties heavily influence the worldviews of Americans. He states later in the report:

“As might be expected, church alignments were directly related to worldview. People associated with Christian churches that have a “high view” of the Bible –i.e., believing that the Bible is the inspired true word of God and is a reliable guide for life – were much more likely to have a biblical worldview than were people attending other types of churches. One-fifth of those attending evangelical Protestant churches (21%) have a biblical worldview, as do one-sixth of those attending Pentecostal churches (16%). In contrast, much smaller proportions of people associated with mainline Protestant (8%) or Catholic (1%) churches – segments that typically places less trust in the reliability of the Bible – have a biblical worldview.”
“The largest segment of people who describe themselves as Christian is Notional Christians – those who self identify as Christian and who do not embrace eternal salvation through a personal confession of sin and accepting Jesus Christ as their personal savior. Notional Christians constitute 54% of the U.S. adults who describe themselves as Christians. Very few Notional Christians – only one-tenth of one percent – have a biblical world view.”

I was unable to find any similar report for the EU or other parts of the world. Based on reports on the decline of the church in Europe one can conclude that percentages of Christians with a biblical worldview is even smaller.

What is a biblical worldview?

If you believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God and purpose to make it be the foundation of everything you say and do then you may have a biblical world view. To better understand if you have a biblical worldview answer the following questions based on claims found in the Bible and which Dr. Barna used in his survey.

  • Do absolute moral truths exist?
  • Is absolute truth defined by the Bible?
  • Did Jesus Christ live a sinless life?
  • Is God the all-powerful and all-knowing Creator of the universe, and does He still rule it today?
  • Is salvation a gift from God that cannot be earned?
  • Is Satan real?
  • Does a Christian have a responsibility to share his or her faith in Christ with other people?
  • Is the Bible accurate in all of its teachings?

Are you able to answer yes to all of the above? If so, then you are among only 9% of “born-again” believers whom prescribe to a fully biblical worldview. More importantly, does your daily life show evidence that you follow the ideas reflected in these questions? Even as “born-again” believers we all fall and sin every day. When we do, we have to pick ourselves up, acknowledge and confess the sin to God, repent and strive to as Jesus said the woman caught in adultery, “Go and sin no more”.

One thing I want to clarify. I am not saying that only those in the 9% that hold a biblical world view will be saved. God and God alone will decide who does and who does not qualify to spend eternity with Him in heaven. There are millions that fall somewhere in the gray area between those that hold a biblical worldview, as defined by Dr. Barna, and an unbeliever that totally rejects the gift of salvation provided by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. I will say that as an individual moves further away from the values Dr. Barna lists the more willing that individual is to compromise God’s standards.

It must be acknowledged that there are many of us, that most would consider to be part of the 9% group holding to the defined biblical world view, that have fallen and failed to live by God’s standards. A sad example is Ravi Zacharias. Ravi had been recognized for years as a Christian apologist that by outward appearances was one that held a strong biblical worldview. Yet he took a dark secret to the grave with him and it was exposed after his death. God only knows where Ravi’s heart was. Sexual temptation is one of Satan’s favorite methods to lead men and women astray and his favorite targets are prominent pastors and teachers.   

As Goes the Church, so Goes the Nation.

Many mainline denominations have endorsed gay marriage, LGBT ideology, abortion, prosperity gospel and many other progressive “new age” ideas that are absolutely unbiblical. These liberal, progressive churches also deny the virgin birth of Jesus, His resurrection and the fact that He is the Son of God. Geno Geraci, a popular local radio host of an afternoon Bible questions call in show called Cross Walk refers to liberal progressive churches as “make believe Christians”.

A typical example is a church right here in Longmont, CO that has a transsexual pastor. This 69 year old man dresses and presents himself as a woman. He openly denies the scriptures prohibition of a man dressing as a woman. They openly welcome people of the LGBT lifestyle with no requirement of repentance of their sinful behavior. Yet they dare to make the claim that they are a Christian church. Worse than that, this man was invited to speak at Joe Biden’s inaugural “prayer breakfast” on Jan. 20, 2021.

These emergent, seeker friendly, liberal progressive churches all have a familiar ring to the churches in Revelation 2. A brief review of Revelation 2:1-22 reveals that of the seven churches only two, the church of Smyrna and the church of Philadelphia, did not receive a rebuke.

  • The church of Ephesus — I have this against you, that you have left your first love.
  • The church in Pergamos — But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality. Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.
  • The church of Thyatira — you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.
  • The church in Sardis — “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.
  • The church of the Laodiceans — “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

The rebukes that each of these five churches received reflect what we are seeing in the liberal progressive so called “Christian” churches throughout America, Canada and around the world. The Emergent Church movement is especially guilty. In these churches the Bible ceases to be viewed as God’s definitive Word, what a person feels to be true becomes the ultimate authority for faith and practice. Often the divinity and resurrection of Jesus is questioned or denied. His virgin birth is held in question. Most of all, Jesus’ claim to be the one way to God’s is not accepted.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6

Because these so called “Christian” churches have turned their backs on God, I believe He has also “gave them up” as described in Romans 1:24-32. Yes, God’s will is that none would perish (2 Peter 3:9) but, as Jesus said,

 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:13-14.

The main point is that, even within the 2.3 billion that identify as “Christian”, very small proportions truly follow Biblical teaching and are true followers of Jesus. Using the 8% estimate from above, out of over 7 billion world populations, only some 2.6% (184 million) are seriously following Christ.

God is light and those who walk with Him have light. Without Him there is no light.

5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. 1 John 1:5-10

So what are the consequences of God turning his back on unbelievers and those that are “Christian” in name only and do not walk in the His light? God removes His light and darkness rushes in. That darkness is Satan and he is more than willing to tempt the “make-believer” and unbeliever. Unfortunately, in many of the modern liberal “Christian” churches it is difficult to discern much difference between “believer” and non-believer. Jeremiah 17:9-10 tells us that the human heart is deceitful to the core.

9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10 I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings. Jeremiah 17:9-10

Thus, it isn’t surprising that when God turns His back (removes His Spirit and hedge of protection) that humankind spirals into all kinds of sinful behavior. God allows Satan to tempt them into far deeper sinful behavior.

The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, 10 and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, 12 in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12

What we have is a world where upwards of 97% of the entire population is living outside of God’s light. I want to now try to paint a word picture of what our world would look like if we were able to put on special glasses that would allow us to see behind curtain into the Cosmic Geographic Worldview. What I am about to describe is view of the world I developed after reading a book titled “This Present Darkness” by Frank Peretti some 30 or more years ago The topic of the book was about spiritual warfare and discerning of spirits.

In this book the author described a fictional story of a college town entrenched in spiritual warfare. It was especially meaningful because I had lived near Boulder for around ten years at that time. It was and still is, well known that there are a significant number of Satan worshippers and witches covens in and around Boulder. Boulder and the surrounding area are also entrenched in spiritual warfare. As I read the book “This Present Darkness” I began to envision a similar situation in and around Boulder, the strongholds of the Principalities and Powers that oppressed the community. That vision expanded to eventually reveal the strongholds of the Principalities and Powers that warred against the entire globe.

In the vision I was driving in a car from Denver to Boulder, Colorado. As I topped the hill overlooking the city of Boulder on the Boulder Turnpike I saw a thick black cloud like fog hanging over the city. As I descended the hill into Boulder it was like driving into a black fog. One could see through the fog enough to drive but as I got closer to the city it got denser and denser. As I entered the city proper, I began to notice that there were areas where the black fog was very dark and other areas where it was if the fog had lifted. One area where it was particularly thick was a strip club. A few blocks later, it lifted and I noticed a church. A magazine store known for selling pornography had a thick black fog over it. As I drove through residential areas some homes had a thick dark cloud and others had none. Likewise for various business, some had dark clouds hanging over them and other just a haze. As I passed the Colorado University campus the cloud was especially thick. 

Then in the vision, I was suddenly floating above the city higher and higher into the sky. As I rose higher I was able to see nearby towns. Each town had its own dark cloud hanging over it. As I ascended higher I could see metro Denver proper and there was a patchwork of dark and lighter areas. I began to realize that the darker areas were strongholds of satanic activity.

Higher and higher I ascended in the vision until I was able to see whole states and regions. The land began to move under me as if I was flying in a very fast airplane. I passed over various cities. I recognized Salt Lake City and could see a thick black cloud over the Mormon Temple. As I approached Las Vegas, true to its nick name “sin city” a huge dark cloud covered the entire area, darker and thicker than what I had observed up to this point.

Soon, Los Angles appeared below me and like a thick blanket of smog the black cloud clung to the ground. Over Hollywood, the cloud seemed to be thousands of feet high. Next I was over the San Francisco area and the entire city was entrapped in a thick black fog.

Higher and higher I ascended until the entire nation could be seen. Virtually every town and city had varying sizes of black clouds. New York, Chicago, St. Louis, Dallas, virtually all had these clouds. Then I noticed one particularly large thick black cloud and realized that it was hovering over Washington DC. All over the nation these dark clouds could be seen, representing strongholds of satanic activity.

Next I was lifted even higher such that my view of earth was like a satellite in orbit. The earth turned under me as Japan and China began to appear. Each of these countries had their own black clouds. Japan with their majority Buddhist population was nearly covered by its cloud. China, as large as it is was entirely covered by a thick black cloud with its communist atheistic society. Occasional bright white dots would shine out and I realized that these were locations where the underground Christian churches were. Russia to the north, every populated area had its own thick cloud. A few white specks could be seen representing the Russian Orthodox Church.

Passing over India, with its primarily Hindu population that had been established for thousands of years, the country had a cloud that looked more like tar. Yet, a few white lights like shining diamonds sprinkled over the country representing the rare Christian churchs. On to the Middle East the home of much of the world’s Muslim population the clouds hung thick and dark.

The same scene repeated over and over as I passed over Africa, Europe and finally South America. I realized that each country’s capitals had extra dark thick clouds that cover them. As it was for Washington DC as the eastern seaboard of the USA passed below me.

I had circled the entire globe and virtually everywhere I looked there had been these dark clouds hovering over the populated areas. Strongholds of satanic activity…strongholds of the Principalities and Powers.

Not a very encouraging story. Last May, 2020,  as I began to feel the promptings from the Holy Spirit to start writing this manuscript, the proceeding was the vision from nearly 30 years ago, that kept coming back to me time and time again. I felt the Sprit was telling me to write about this to heighten the awareness of my fellow Christians of the Cosmic Drama that is going on around us. It is now January 2021 and we have a newly elected president in office, over 400,000 have died due to Covid-19 and every day that passes by it seems the news gets more and more crazy. It is easy to get depressed, afraid and overwhelmed by the daily news. I can say that this vision of what is going on behind the cosmic curtain has helped me to cope with the craziness going on in the world.

To revisit the quote I used in Chapter One from R. C. Sproul’s book “Unseen Realities Heaven, Hell, Angles and Demons”, “the scriptures portray Satan as incredible strong. He’s no match for God. He is not omnipotent. But, he is potent, and he is more potent than we are.”

Thankfully, we have read the end of the Book and we know that in the end God wins. That is the hope that I rely on. When we realize how extensively our enemy has his hooks into the world it would be easy to get discouraged. Our hope is in Christ and it is that hope that lets me face tomorrow. Furthermore, as we look back on the statistics that I have presented in this chapter we realize that among the billions that are lost in this world the Lord has given us the task of carrying that same message of hope to His lost people. It is His desire that none should parish and all would come to a saving knowledge of Christ our savior. We are the Salt and Light that the billions need. It is our task to carry God’s Light to them.

In the mean time, we need to live with the understanding that the billions of unbelievers out there in the world are literally “Puppets of the Principalities and Powers”. It is the understanding I discerned from this vision of the world condition, that inspired the title of this manuscript. The fact that the vast majority of the leaders, of all the governments, of all the countries in the world are among this same group of unbelievers, all fallen people, we realize that our governments are lead by “puppets of Satan”. We have to walk with wisdom and discernment as we navigate this world in our efforts to carry the message of Christ to a dyeing world.

All we have to do is look back into the history books to see many of these past leaders were “puppets of Satan”.  The Pharaohs of Egypt, the rulers of Babylon, Persia, Greek empires, Roman empires and fast forward to dictators of the 18th & 19th century like Napoleon, Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pat and many others. At the hand of these evil regimes millions upon millions were murdered. In our present day world we have leaders of countries around the world that have no belief in or fear of the God of the Bible. To list a few:

  • Xi Jinping of China, Chinese Communist Party
  • Kim Jong-un of North Korea
  • Vladimir Putin of Russia
  • Ali Khamene of Iran
  • Bashar Hafez al-Assad of Syria
  • Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela
  • Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea
  • Yoweri Museveni of Uganda
  • Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir of Sudan
  • Miguel Diaz-Canel of Cuba
  • Ram Nath Kovind of India
  • Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey
  • Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan

This is by no means an exhaustive list. Numerous other countries live under evil regimes around the world. As one studies the people in these countries you learn of mass-killing, rape, torture, and pillaging, genocide, starvation, use of Sarin gas and other chemical weapons against civilians. If one traces the history of most of the above nations (like China and India for example) you will find a record of godlessness tracing all the way back to the days of Noah and the Tower of Babel times.

On the other side of the coin, if we look at the nations of the world that are generally viewed as ranking high on the Freedom Index, we are seeing an erosion of freedoms. I was stunned and sadden to learn that the United States ranks 5th on the Freedom Index published by www.worldpopulationreview.com,  behind #1- Canada, #2- Australia, #3- Germany and #4- The United Kingdom. Sadly, both Canada and the USA are seeing leftist socialist attempting to introduce socialist and communistic ideas into our constitutions destroying the freedoms we have enjoyed for 100’s of years. I deeply fear that the 2020 election that has put the Democrats in power will result in a rapid loss of our cherished freedom in the USA.

During my research, I came across a webpage on pewforum.org that documented the distribution of religious affiliations of both the House and Senate. It is interesting to study this chart relative to the research done by the Arizona Christian University’s Cultural Research Center we discussed earlier.

At first look, the chart title would give us hope that our government would be made up of a majority of Godly people. It is interesting to note that Congress (House and Senate combined) is made up of members of which 88% indentify as Christian, while only 65% of the general public identifies as Christian.

If we drill down into these numbers and apply the 6% percentage stated in the CRC study to the house and senate we come up with about 23 house and 5 senate members that potentually would have a biblical world view.

It should be noted also that 30.9% of the House and 24.5% of the Senate are Catholic. As we will recall, the CRC study found only 1% of Catholics have a biblical world view.

It is interesting to note also that nearly all non-Christian members of Congress are Democrats.

As noted in the footnotes of the chart, two newly elected senators from Georgia are not included. Raphael Warnock, a radical leftist “Baptist”, certainly does not hold a biblical world view as is evident by his support of abortion & LGBT “rights”.

Jon Ossoff has a Jewish upbringing and also has pro-abortion & LGBT views.

Once we break down the numbers using the CRC study percentages it becomes apparent why our Congress tends to support un-biblical policies on abortion, gay marriage and LGBT so called “Rights”. While some of the members of Congress that identify as Christian, yet don’t hold a Christian world view, may still legislate with somewhat of a Christian conscience, it should come as no surprise that they are far more easily influenced by the principalities and powers that hold influence over both houses of Congress. It is easy to understand how the majority of our leaders in Washington DC are puppets of the principalities and powers.

Satan hates the USA more than any nation other than Israel.

During its 245 year history, the USA has been a beacon of light to the rest of the world. It is the only nation founded upon and whose constitution is based on biblical values. Satan has waged a spiritual war for those 245 years against America because America has spread the word around the world and remains a majority Christian nation. Is it any wonder that in the vision I described earlier that one of the darkest black clouds hovered over Washington DC. Where better to attack us than our leadership?

Satan has been fighting this war on multifaceted fronts.

Satan attacks:

  1. Our leaders in Washington by corrupting the congressman, senators, judicial and the office of president.
    1. These leaders get elected by an un-believing nation exercising their “free will” in the voting booth based on greed and lies fed to them by the leftist media.
    2. These leaders get elected with their campaign financing being aided by financial backing left socialist/communist globalists such as Georges Soros, Bill Gates, David Rockefeller and the global elite.
    3. These global elites are Satan’s primary puppets through whom he is laying the groundwork for a one world government lead by the Anti-Christ.
  2. Our schools through teachers and administrators that are a majority of secular unbelieving people. Many with a socialist/Marxist agenda have been brainwashing our children with Marxist principals for the last 60+ years.
  3. Hollywood and the entertainment industry have filled our heads with perverted views of sex and marriage. Adultery, fornication, LGBT+ behavior has been shoved in our face as the new normal for a so called enlightened world.
  4. Our churches are being attacked on every front. Many mainline denominations have abandoned sound biblical teaching for the progressive lies. In many of the liberal progressive churches it is hard to distinguish them from the secular un-believing population.

 

Sins of the Nation

A survey of Israel’s history after the Exodus will reveal that God turned his back to the people numerous times. This was most often due to their collective sin as a nation, meaning that a vast majority of the people were guilty of the sin that kindled God’s wrath upon them. The one sin that tended to kindle His wrath more often than not was worship of other gods and sacrifice of their children to those gods. Here a few examples.

Child sacrifices to Baal — (Lev. 20:2; Deut. 12:31; 2 Ki. 16:3; 17:31; 23:10; Jer. 7:30-32; 19:3-5; Ezek. 16:20-21).

“He also made unfit for worship Topheth, which is in the Valley of the Sons of Hinnom, so that no one could make his son or his daughter pass through the fire to Molech.” — (2 Kings 23:10)

“They built high places for Baal in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to sacrifice their sons and daughters to Molech, though I never commanded — nor did it enter my mind — that they should do such a detestable thing and so make Judah sin.” — Jeremiah 32:35

For the Judahites have done evil in my sight”—an oracle of Yahweh—“they have set their abominations in the House over which my Name is invoked, defiling it. They build the shrines of the Topheth, which is in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire—which I did not command, nor did it arise in my mind.” — (Jeremiah 7:30–31)

In the Bible book of Jeremiah, God states,

“They built the high places of Baal in order to burn their sons in the fire as whole burnt offerings to Baal, something that I had not commanded or spoken of and that had never even come into my heart.”  — Jeremiah 19:5

In Leviticus God gave Moses the laws forbidding sacrifice of their children to Malech plus the sins of adultery and homosexuality.

“You must not lie carnally with your neighbor’s wife and thus defile yourself with her. 21 You must not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molech, for your must not profane the name of your God. I am the LORD. 22 You must not lie with a man as with a woman; that is an abomination.“ — Leviticus 18:20-22

We’ve seen the sins committed as “Sins of the Nation” by Israel that drew God’s wrath. (1) Worship of other gods, and (2) sacrifice of their children to Malech,.  All of these plus adultery and homosexuality are rampant in our own nation. Since the 60’s adultery and fornication has become the norm. Here in the USA we have sacrificed over 63,000,000 unborn babies to our (Malech) god of greed, selfishness and convenience during the 58 years since the Roe vs. Wade ruling in 1973. In the past 20 years the LGBT community has rose up demanding that their sin be accepted as normal un-sinful behavior.  Our “sins of the Nation” are far greater than Israel’s.

The collective “Sins of the Nation” has placed us in grave danger of, and possibly already has, caused God to turn His back on us as a nation. In the chapter four I will expand on what I mean as “Sins of the Nation”. For now if we consider godlessness, abortion, acceptance of LGBT lifestyle, so called gay marriage, racial predigest and oppression, those sins alone I believe have grieved God’s heart so much that He has, or soon will turned His back to us. I truly believe that the only thing that can save this nation is a massive revival and turning back to God by the people. As I observe what is going on with our neighbor to the north, Canada, I believe they are also going to and possibly already have seen God’s back turned towards them.

In His infinite wisdom God removes his hedge of protection from His rebellious creation, (mankind) and allows Satan to attack and manipulate man. When mankind exercises their freewill and rebels against God, effectively telling God to get lost, He honors that desire in fallen man’s heart, removes His Light and allows Satan to attack. To use an old adage, “We reap what we sow”.

Hopefully, in this chapter, I have been able to convey a word picture of the world map from a Cosmic Geological World View. It is from this world map of Light and Darkness that I will be referring to in the remainder of this manuscript. It will be from this concept that as we look at the various regions and governments we have awareness that God has turned His back, removed His Light and allowed Satan to impose his darkness over the land.

Most importantly, I want to communicate the fact that these governments (including our own here in the USA) are Puppets of the Principalities and Powers resulting in the moral decline and the drift towards socialism and Communism. I want to state that, and I will expand on this in a future chapter, that socialism and Communism are NOT Christian concepts but rather Satan’s counterfeit fallen version of government that seeks to destroy mankind and all of God’s creation.

While by no means perfect, our USA has been one of the Godliest governments that has existed in history. Founded on Judean-Christian principals it has stood a beacon of Light in the world for 245 years. This is why Satan and his leftist socialist puppets are so determine to destroy our history and tear down our country.

We have looked at the utter depravity and unfathomable number of fallen people in this world. This realization gives whole new meaning to The Great Commission when we realize there are 6.8 billion people in this world that need to hear and respond to the message of Christ and the hope of redemption through His sacrifice on the cross.
