Oct. 29, 2019. — I had visited this location in 1998 on my way home from Phoenix during a period of my life I was not doing much photography. Once I got into doing wall mural photography, I had it on my Bucket List as a place I wanted to do a Gigarama photo at. If you zoom into the image to the structure in the bottom of the crater you will find the US Flag and an astronaut silhouette standing next to it. Meteor Crater lies at an elevation of 5,640 ft (1,719 m) above sea level. It is about 3,900 ft (1,200 m) in diameter, some 560 ft (170 m) deep, and is surrounded by a rim that rises 148 ft (45 m) above the surrounding plains. Meteor Crater is a meteorite impact crater approximately 37 miles (60 km) east of Flagstaff and 18 miles (29 km) west of Winslow in the northern Arizona desert of the United States.
This image was shot with Canon 5DSR, Canon 70-200mm lens @200mm, f/14, 1/1000th sec. exposure, ISO 800. It is made up of 150 images, 6 rows x 25 columns 25% overlap in portrait orientation. High ISO and short shutter speed was needed because wind was blowing some 25mph. Stitching was done with Kolor Autopano Giga. Pre and post processing in Photoshop.
