June 6, 2023. 6:10 AM. — I drove to the Devils Garden parking area about 45 minutes before sunrise. I hiked to the viewing area for Landscape Arch arriving some 25 minutes before the sunrise. I found this spot with some nice foreground subjects and sat up my gear in preparation for the sunrise. The glorious light that lit up the arch as the sun rose over the horizon was amazing. Landscape Arch is the longest arch in North America with a light opening of 306 feet (93.3 meters). This awe-inspiring expanse is only 6 feet (1.8 meters) in diameter at its narrowest. Large segments of the arch came crashing down in the 1990s – proof that the park’s landscape can change dramatically in a instant. Although other arches have fallen, Landscape Arch still hangs on by a very thin thread.
This is an focus stacked image shot bracketed with Canon R5, Canon 70-200mm lens at 200mm, f/11, 1/30th sec. exposure, ISO 400. It is made up of 1421 Focus Bracketed images processed to yield 210 individual Focus Stacked images, 7 rows x 30 columns 30% overlap in portrait orientation.
