Island in the Sky Sunset

June 6, 2020 — While we were at Island in the Sky in Canyon Lands I was shooting a sunset. I had my wife Jean sit so that she would be in the photo. I told her to hold very still while I was doing the shoot. She was unaware that a Raven quietly landed near by and was looking out in the same direction as if to say “What are you looking at?” Over night and early in the morning we had some heavy rain in the region. Most of the normally dry draws in the canyons either had flowing water or pools of water that all were reflecting the sunset light. White Rim Trail can be seen snaking it’s way across center portion of the photo, eventually making it’s way up the Murphy Hogsback. The Green River reflects the sunset light.
This shot using Canon 5DSR, Canon 70-200mm lens @ 70mm, f/14, 1/125th, sec. exposure, ISO 400. It is made up of 20 images, 2 rows x 10 columns 30% overlap in portrait orientation to produce final image measuring 43″ x 130″.
