Denali Sunrise at Talkeetna

Aug. 5, 2017, 5:30AM, the air was dead calm, a fog hung over the river valley as the whistle of an Alaska Rail train echoed through the valley below. I arrived at the overlook about a mile south of Talkeetna a few minutes before sunrise to setup my camera and the silence was amazing. The show that God put on over the next few minutes had me in awe of His handiwork. I could hardly take my eyes off of the scene long enough to shoot my photos. The clouds literally exploded in hues of orange. The sides of the mountains were aflame in Alpen Glow as the sun peeked over the horizon. This is one of the largest photos of Denali that I shot during our Alaska tour.

The original uncropped version of this panorama consists of 39 individual HDR 42 mega-pixel images shot with Sony a7Rii at f-32, bracketed 1/4, 1/150th, & 1.0 seconds and ISO 200 using a 380mm lens yielding an image 62″ x 146″. The cropped image as shown is:

  • 62″ x138.6″ 300 ppi cropped size
  • This image is available 1:2.236 ratio as wall murals in sizes up to 10 ft x 22-1/3 ft (150ppi) without loss of detail.

  • Standard Plaque prints are available in four Finish Choices. Finishes are acid-free and ultra violet (UV) light protected, shielding it against fading and deterioration and can be wiped down with water or any ammonia-free cleaners.
  • We highly recommend the Metalized Paper for prints, plaques and PlexiPlaq products. This special paper does an excellent job of bringing out the detail of the photos.
  • All of our plaques are produced by Duraplaq on photo quality High Density boards. Numerous Mounting Styles are available along with many Edge Treatments.
  • Approximate lead time for shipping of Prints is 1 week. Plaque mounts and other options 2 weeks.

The above sizes and mounting options are a small subset of the overall mounting options we have. We offer all of our photos on a variety of mounting options from just prints, framed, plaque mounting, Aluminum Prints, or Plexiplaq. We also offer Tri-Panel, Quad-Panel or Wall Clusters & Splits. Most of our Gigaramas are available as wall murals. We also license our photos for various commercial applications.
