Mormon Row Sunrise

June 25, 2019, 6:30 PM. — We made a point to be at Mormon Row for sunrise. Having been skunked by weather the two previous times I had been to this location, I was hopeful to get some good light at sunrise. A bank of clouds to the east appeared to be going to prevent my third attempt to get the shot. Thankfully just as the sun was due to peek over the mountains to the east there were some breaks in the clouds. All along the Tetons Range, the light was filtered in various colors by the variation of cloud thickness to the east. At the left (south) end of the range, we experienced a thicker layer with just a gap at the horizon yielding reddish hues. In the middle the clouds were just letting a hint of light through. In the far north on right there were just a few clouds which lit the sky with brilliant yellows. Just to the right of the barn a group of photographers are gathered with their wide angle lenses. We were located about 100 yards away to capture the “Big” picture.
This image was shot with Canon 5DSR, Canon 70-200mm lens @200mm, f/14, .3 sec.,, ISO 100. It is made up of 45 images, 3 rows x 15 columns 30% overlap in portrait orientation to produce final image measuring 64″ x 199″.
