Early Light at Cape Royal

June 12, 2020, 6:15 AM. — Cape Royal Wall Mural. The shadows in the deep canyons make early morning or late afternoon shoots difficult to capture the full range of bright to dark. Regardless of the difficulty, these times are the best times to shoot to get good depth in one’s photo. Using “Expose to the Right” technique to set exposure for brightest area in upper left I was fortunately able to retrieve the darkest areas.

This shot using Canon 5DSR, Canon 300mm lens, f/13, ISO 100. It is made up of 360 images, 9 rows x 40 columns 30% overlap in portrait orientation to produce final image measuring 175″ x 525″.
