Sept. 28, 2023. 10:00am. — While the Maroon Bells are touted as the most photographed place in Colorado, pictures simply don’t do the peaks justice. Having lived in Colorado since 1980, I had never been to this location. Because it is so often photographed, I had never had much interest in doing another “me too” photograph of this popular location. My wife had seen photos of the Bells online and kept encouraging me to shoot one of my wall mural photos here. After some research I found that nobody had ever shot a gigapixel image of the Bells. So because of it’s close proximity to Hanging Lake I booked an RV park near both locations for our fall 2023 photo tour. For this image I waited until later in the morning when the light was nearly filling the valley to better capture the fall colors which were nearly at the peak for the season.
